More About the Troop Pathway
This is the traditional way of joining Girl Scouts.
The girls in a troop may be the same grade level and from the same school – or have mixed ages and include girls from many different schools, including home-schools and private schools
Joining a Girl Scout troop gives girls the opportunity to work with a group of peers, in partnership with two or more adult volunteer troop leaders. Troops usually meet weekly or every other week over nine to twelve months. Many girls develop bonds that last a lifetime, and some troops remain together for many years.
In a troop, girls work together to set goals, plan and carry out activities, and celebrate their accomplishments. Troop activities can include completing service projects, earning Girl Scout awards, learning skills, getting outdoors, traveling and more.
With the guidance and mentoring of caring adults, girls develop their full potential, including teamwork and leadership skills to last a lifetime.
New troops are formed throughout the year. Two adults volunteers are needed to start a new troop. New volunteers are provided a comprehensive orientation, support and program guides to make leading a troop easy, rewarding and fun.
